Top & bottom text is the classic format — white capitals with a black outline across the top and bottom of the picture, so they read on any background. Each line is sized to be as large as it can while staying inside the top or bottom quarter of the picture, which keeps the middle, usually the face, clear; a long line wraps onto more lines at a smaller size rather than running off the edge.
Caption above is the newer format: plain black text on a white bar above the picture. The bar grows with the caption, so a long one makes a taller image instead of tiny text, and the caption keeps the capitals you typed.
Very large photos are scaled so their longest side is 2,000 pixels — plenty for any social network, and small enough to download and send. There is no library of meme templates here: you bring the picture, which also means there is nothing to license.
Is my picture uploaded anywhere?
No. The picture is read and drawn in your browser, and the download is made there too. Nothing is sent to a server.
Does the meme have a watermark?
No. The download is exactly the picture and the text you see.
What font is the classic text in?
Impact, the classic meme face, where your device has it — most Windows and Mac computers do. Elsewhere it falls back to the boldest similar font available, so phones and Linux machines may look slightly different.
