Music Tools
6 tools, free and without ads.
Tools for practising, tuning and writing music, plus two for when you would rather listen or play than practise. Every sound here is synthesised in the browser as you use it, so nothing streams and nothing is downloaded once a page has loaded.
The tuner listens through your microphone to measure a note. That listening happens on your device and stops when you leave the page; no audio is recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
Every tool in Music
Falling-notes piano game. Play fourteen public-domain tunes — short or full-length — on a real keyboard or five arcade lanes, by touch, mouse or typing.
Steady click from 20 to 300 BPM, with tap tempo, eight time signatures, an accented downbeat and subdivisions. Shareable as a link.
Play a note and see which one it is and how many cents sharp or flat, with presets for guitar, bass, ukulele and violin and an adjustable reference pitch.
Play a steady sine, square, triangle or sawtooth from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with a note picker and a left/right channel test. For tuning by ear and testing speakers.
Print blank staff paper: treble, bass or grand staff, optional guitar tab, on US Letter or A4 at the staff size you write at.
Endless lo-fi beats composed live in your browser — piano, swung drums, bass — with rain, fire, waves and birdsong to mix in. Share a track by link.
Which tool for which job
Tuning — the Tuner hears a note and says which it is and how many cents sharp or flat, with presets for guitar, bass, ukulele and violin. The Tone Generator goes the other way and plays a reference pitch to tune by ear, which also makes it a speaker and headphone test: slide the frequency from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, or play into the left or right channel alone.
Keeping time — the Metronome clicks from 20 to 300 BPM with tap tempo, an accented downbeat and subdivisions. Each click is scheduled on the audio clock, so the beat holds steady while the tab is in view; switch to another tab and it stops, because a browser throttles a hidden page too much to keep time.
Writing it down — Staff Paper prints blank manuscript in treble, bass or grand staff, with optional guitar tab, sized for US Letter or A4.
Playing and listening — Piano Hero is a falling-notes game over public-domain tunes, playable on a real keyboard or by touch. The Lo-fi Music Generator composes an endless track live, so it never loops and can be shared as a link.
