Decision Wheel
Put your options on a wheel and spin — or draw several at once. Fair, weighted if you like, and shareable.
One per line. Add x3 to give an entry three chances; a name listed twice counts
twice.
- Pizza 16.7%
- Tacos 16.7%
- Sushi 16.7%
- Burgers 16.7%
- Ramen 16.7%
- Salad 16.7%
Type or paste your options, one per line, and press Spin. The winner is
chosen the moment you press it, using your browser's cryptographic random number generator
(crypto.getRandomValues) — the same source used for passwords — with rejection
sampling so no entry is favoured by rounding. Only then does the wheel turn, and it is aimed
at the slice that already won. The animation is decoration: its speed, a tab switched away
mid-spin, or reduced motion turned on in your system settings cannot change the result. With
reduced motion the wheel simply moves to the winner without spinning.
Weights. Add x3 (or ×3) after an entry to give it
three chances instead of one; its slice grows to match, and the Chances list shows each
entry's exact percentage. Weights are whole numbers from 1 to 1000. Listing a name twice is
the same as giving it a weight of two — the duplicates are merged into one slice, ignoring
capitalisation, so the wheel never shows the same option twice as if it were two.
Several winners. Set Winners above one to draw a group at once — teams, a raffle, a reading order. Without repeats, each winner is removed before the next pick, so the rest are drawn from what remains and nobody is picked twice; the tool will not let you ask for more winners than there are entries. With Allow repeats on, every pick is made from the full list, so the same entry can come up again. The wheel lands on the first winner and the result line lists them all.
Every draw is added to the History, newest first, with the time; copy it to paste the results
somewhere else. Your list, the number of winners and the repeat setting are saved in the page
address, so the link you copy from the address bar opens the same wheel for someone else. The
list stays in the link's #fragment, which browsers never send to a server.
Is the wheel really random?
Yes. The winner comes from crypto.getRandomValues, your browser’s cryptographically secure generator, with rejection sampling so every chance is exact. It is chosen before the wheel moves, and the animation only shows it.
How do weights work?
Write x2, x3 and so on after an entry to give it that many chances. An entry with x3 is three times as likely to win as one with no weight. The Chances list shows each entry’s percentage.
What happens if I list the same name twice?
It counts twice: duplicates are merged into one slice with their chances added, ignoring capital letters, exactly as if you had written x2.
Can I pick more than one winner?
Yes. Set Winners to the number you need. Without repeats nobody can win twice; turn on Allow repeats to draw each winner from the full list.
How do I share my wheel?
Copy the page address once you have changed the list. The entries and settings travel in the part of the link after the #, which never reaches any server.
